The Arc de Triomphe is one of the most famous monuments in Paris. Visit the Arc de Triomphe by going up the observatory. You will get a unique view of the Champs Elysées by day and night, it’s totally worth it. Also, you’ll find a museum up there. Beneath the arch, have a look at the Unknown Soldier’s tomb whose flame is lit at 6 pm everyday.
Did you know?
The Arc de Triomphe could have been a giant elephant statue, but Napoleon asked for something to celebrate Austerlitz Victory instead. Too bad.
Charles Godefroy flew his plane through the arch to salute all the airmen killed during WWI.
Napoleon never got the chance to see the finished building because it took 30 years to build.
