Alright, for the sake of research, I literally tasted macarons everywhere in Paris in the past few weeks! Crispy exterior, creamy interior, and rich in flavor, this cute colorful pastry is a sweet delight! Let me give you my favorite addresses!
Macarons with a view
Dalloyau: these guys were Louis XIV’s favorite food specialists since 1682 and stayed at the Versailles court until Bastille Day! Go buy their macarons at The Galeries Lafayettes Gourmet (9, Rue de la monnaie, 1th district). Go to the top of the Galeries Lafayette Women’s Department Store, located just on the opposite sidewalk, and admire the view while eating the best coffee flavor macarons in Paris. You’ll love it!
Carette: Parisians will tell you that Carette is no ordinary tearoom. They have been open since 1927 at 4 place du Trocadero et du 11 novembre, 16th district, with a view over the Eiffel Tower. The macaron is their signature pastry, and we understood why: it was delicious!

Ladurée: We don’t bother to present Ladurée Macarons anymore, ’cause they are probably already the most famous in the world! To taste some, we suggest you to go to 21 rue Bonaparte, 7th district, where you’ll find an intimate tea room, designed in a chic and elegant spirit that reminds us of the atmosphere of a private house. The service is a bit slow but really attentive, and the iced-tea is perfect.
Carette: Once again, Carette is in our favorite places! We loved their pleasant and charming terrace which is perfectly located at 25 place des Vosges, 3rd district, under the arcades of the famous Place des Vosges. The service is warm and the pastries are awesome.

Healthy macarons :
good for the planet, good for your body!
Hugo & Victor: we liked the classical vanilla, chocolate, sea salted caramel and pistachio flavored macarons. In our opinion, the flavors of the fruity ones were hidden by the sugar of the biscuit recipe. Anyway, we still like this shop, where everything is made 100% natural & additive-free, with organic & french products : 40 Boulevard Raspail, 7th district.
Emma Duveré: For us, these are the best macarons in Paris! We loved the amazing flavors of the macarons, all made with organic and seasonal products. The ganache is perfectly balanced: tasty, not too sweet, not too fat. The light design of the pastry shop located at 41, rue Sedaine, 11th district, fits perfectly with the simple and quiet atmosphere of this place! Indeed, we were so warmly welcomed by Emma & Isabelle, that we had the best moment of our day!
A macaron a day, keeps the doctor away
Pierre Hermé: Pierre Hermé Macarons are also one of our favorites, especially the Mogador one, made with milk chocolate and passion fruit (author’s thought: “writing this post makes me want one so much now, OMG”). Also, we chose this address because the ganache of these macarons has the best texture. If you want to bring some back home as a souvenir, choose the Pierre Hermé’s macarons (buy them just before you’re leaving, macarons have to be eaten within 3 days). They have many shops in town, for exemple, at the 185 Rue de Vaugirard, 15th district, or 133 Avenue des Champs-Élysées, 8th district. More addresses here.
VG Pâtisserie: at the moment, this is the only shop we found that makes vegan macarons. But, if you want to taste some you have to order a box minimum one week in advance. We haven’t tried them yet, but we will still give you the address, just in case: 123 boulevard Voltaire, 11th district.
The world known macarons
Ladurée: Ladurée Macarons are probably the most famous ones. You’ll find many Ladurée shops and tearoom in Paris. What we like at Maison Ladurée is the interior design, inspired by great French women : Madame de Pompadour, Eugénie de Montijo, or Madeleine Castaing.
