Sacré Coeur
Perched on top of the Montmartre hill the Sacré Coeur is one of the most famous monuments of Paris!
Inside or outside, it is totally worth the walk up the steps!
Did you know?
- It was built as a reaction to more than a century of war and violence in France. It took 50 years to build, and was completed in 1923, making the Sacre Coeur quite recent compared to other monuments of Paris.
- Since the 1st of August 1885, a continuous silent prayer is made in front of the exposed Blessed Sacrament, with prayers from all over the world. 24/7.
- There are 220 stairs to climb to the Sacre Coeur from the Anvers Metro station.
- Entrance to the Sacre Coeur is totally free!
